Broadway Street, looking to the north photographed from a location near the present city hall.
The original picture was taken from a picture postcard, which bore a postmark dated 1907 and
addressed to Miss Lola Craig at Howard Payne College in Brownwood. Most likely, this picture,
-as well as many others in this series - was made by her brother, Eldridge, who was a Bells
pharmacist and photographer. Although they are hardly visible in this picture, Bells once had
two water wells in the center of Broadway St.
Downtown Bells (Broadway St., more commonly known as Main St.) looking south This picture was
made about 1910 on "Circus Day." Note the band in front. It was the Bells Camp of the Woodman
of the World Band. It's leader was George Dugan.
